For years we have been using Ghirardelli and Guittard chocolates. We are proud to add Peter's Chocolates to our list of ingredients. We fell in love with Peter's Bittersweet Chunks, with its very rich, chocolate flavor... in our opinion, possibly equal to the dark chocolates of Ghirardelli and Guittard. There are slight differences to a more discerning palette but we feel that we can get away with it when baked in a cookie or as a filling for our Oh Fudge Sandwiches. Please let us know if you taste a difference. We'd love to hear your opinions. So, the addition is due to pure, basic economics. In order to give you the same product at the same price we had to look for a third source for chocolates. The price of chocolate dictates which brand we'll use. We hope you'll understand and keep enjoying our products. Add Comment End of Summer Cookie Giveaway! 08/12/2011
The end of summer is not really something to celebrate about but let’s end it with something indulgently delicious. So, to help you in your seasonal transition, Cookie Crush is proud to host our second cookie giveaway. To enter, you will need to play our game of hide-and-seek. We've hidden a word within our website pages that's bold, bright orange and underlined... for example, cookie. It's simple really... find the word and follow the rules to enter.
Now, what are you playing for? The one grand prize winner will have his or her choice of three Deb’s Dozen cookies (15 cookies per dozen of 3 different flavors)… that equates to 45 pieces of decadently good cookies. And what makes it even more special is that it'll be your choice. The three Cookie-Fix Sampler winners will receive a little bit of whatever we bake for the grand prize winner and however many that will fit in a small USPS Flat Rate box. Like with any game and giveaway, there are rules. Please follow them. 1. To guarantee our products’ freshness, we are limiting this giveaway to USA shipping addresses. 2. Peruse our website to find the bold, bright orange and underlined word (like the rules photo on our Facebook page album). 3. Go to our Contact Us form and enter your name, email address, and in the Comments section, type in the secret word. 4. Only one secret-word entry and/or prize per person. New products! New pics! First off, thank you so much to my niece, Joy for the fabulous photographs! I am forever your fan. If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area and you need a photographer, get in touch with her... http://sooverjoyed.blogspot.com/. Now to the new products with the awesome pictures... Our first new line of cookies is Spritz Love. Spritz cookies are butter cookies formed or shaped by squeezing the dough via a cookie press with a patterned disk (in our case, a star) or piping bag with a tip (a star tip). Spritz cookies originate from the Scandinavian countries and were served during the Christmas season. "Spritz" derives from the German word spritzen which means "to squirt." Ahh, do you feel smarter now? Hey, every bit of knowledge counts... So, Cookie Crush is now selling: Vanilla Spritz (Chocolate), Vanilla Spritz (Chocolate and Strawberry), and Chocolate Spritz (Chocolate). Thank you America's Test Kitchen for this awesome, oh so easy, chocolate ice cream recipe! And seriously... you don't even need an ice cream machine. It yields a perfectly smooth and creamy, rich and chocolaty ice cream. I don't think I'll ever buy chocolate ice cream again. I intended to post a picture but uhhh... by the time I thought about it... all gone. Sorry folks... heehee. What can I say... when hormones kick-in... okay, we don't need to go there. Next time... and yes, I will be making this again... I will add chopped up brownies or maybe spice it up by adding a pinch of cinnamon and cayenne pepper.
To make 1 quart, you will need: 1 teaspoon instant coffee or espresso powder 1 Tablespoon hot water 4 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped fine 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract Pinch of salt 1 1/4 cups heavy cream, chilled First Post!... eh, not really... 07/21/2011
I'm back... oh yeah, I'm sure you're excited and have wondered where I've been. Why just... what was it?... three blogs posted and poof, no more? It's okay to laugh. It is pretty hilarious. But geez, blogging is a tough job. You should try it some time. I was leery at first... doubting my ability to write. Gosh darn it, I can write. Stupid to think that, when I've received A's in all the writing courses I've taken in college and at the culinary school. I suppose you need proof of my writing skills, huh? ... Okay, so here's a short essay of a captured memory entitled "Snowflake Serenade" ----
It was late December in Portland, Oregon, and I was working with my boyfriend on the night shift. We would always take our breaks together, often times forgoing food, and opting for walks around the property. I had many wonderful and engaging conversations with him during these late night walks. We found a great deal of emotional and intellectual connection, which greatly enhanced our relationship. One night, it began to snow outside, one of those rare Oregon central valley snowfalls. As we watched the show from inside the building, with our noses pressed against the window, we decided that when break time rolled around, we would definitely skip lunch and go for a walk. I had no idea that it would be a walk I would not soon forget. | DebbieBaking is ArchivesOctober 2011 CategoriesCakes too!Yup, I also make cakes.
